The Seat Position Sensor is a high-precision linear displacement detection device designed for use in automotive seating systems. It is primarily installed on the track of front-row seats or the locking mechanism of rear foldable seats to monitor seat position and movement. This data enables advanced vehicle functions such as automatic memory settings, adaptive airbag deployment, driver profile recognition, and optimized climate control based on occupant posture. By accurately detecting seat travel or angular position, the sensor allows the vehicle’s Body Control Module (BCM) to store and recall preferred seating positions, improve occupant safety during collisions, and enhance overall cabin comfort.
This sensor utilizes linear Hall-effect sensing technology, which provides excellent linearity, low hysteresis, and high stability over time. Unlike mechanical potentiometers, it has no physical contact between moving parts, resulting in longer lifespan, reduced wear, and improved reliability under repeated use. The sensor supports both linear displacement (0–30mm) and angular rotation (0–20°) measurements, making it versatile for different seat types—such as sliding, reclining, or foldable designs.
It features a programmable switch output function, allowing users to define specific positions as “home” or “preset” points for quick recall. With a temperature operating range from -40°C to +85°C, it performs reliably across all seasons and climates. The full-scale accuracy is within ±1mm, ensuring precise feedback even during fine adjustments. Its wide voltage supply range (+3V to +24V) makes it compatible with various vehicle electrical systems, including 12V and 24V platforms.
The sensor includes built-in power protection circuitry to prevent damage from reverse polarity, overvoltage, or short circuits—enhancing system robustness and reducing maintenance costs. It uses a standard two-wire current interface, simplifying integration into existing vehicle wiring harnesses. The compact, modular design allows easy installation without interfering with seat mechanics, while its waterproof and dust-resistant housing ensures long-term performance in real-world driving conditions.
